OK, So Who Am I?

In short, I write – vignettes are my favourite, and I make stuff.

I got a 2.1 in Fine Art (BA Hons). My notable pieces during my three years of study were made from sound, lard, mod rock, latex, and raw chicken. I also documented a whole series of performances that may or may not have happened.

Conceptual Art and Installation Art are my favourites, and I really enjoy anything that disrupts/shocks/offends. The works of Louise Bourgoise, Bruce Naumann, Yoko Ono, Nan Goldin, Fischli & Weiss, Gilbert & George, Francis Bacon, Matthew Barney, and Martin Kippenburger bring me great joy.

I also have half a degree in Environmental Science (this is a funny story, ask me about it sometime!), I am a member of the Cloud Appreciation Society, I hold a license to serve alcohol, I am NCTJ qualified, and I am a 500h certified yoga and breathwork instructor.

Things I love to do: dance to REALLY loud music, go for walks, collect sounds, lift weights, do yoga, ride my bike, sit in a spa, watch clouds, travel to hot countries, read sci-fi, hang out with the people I love, and drink delicious alcoholic beverages. Not all at once.

Kerry McCarthy
Ex-smoker, persistent daydreamer, forever hopeful

I am a sensitive artist.
Nobody understands me because I am so deep.
In my work, I make allusions to books that nobody else has read,
Music that nobody else has heard,
And art that nobody else has seen.
I can’t help it, because I am so much more intelligent and well-rounded
Than everyone else who surrounds me.
I stopped watching TV when I was six months old
Because it was so boring and stupid,
And started reading books,
And going to recitals and art galleries.
I don’t go to art galleries anymore
Because there are people there,
And I can’t deal with people,
Because they don’t understand me.
I stay home, reading books that are beneath me,
And working on my work, which no one understands.
I am sensitive.
