This Gordon is the most coveted of them all – at every exhibition this is the one the people want, and sadly I refuse to part with him. His story is something like this…
He started out as the Gordon with a Heart of Steel, one of the very first I ever sculpted. I then had an idea of naming these gangly creatures, my (then 8 year old) child said they look like Gordons…. who knows?!
Throwing it out to the internet, the Gordons idea stuck, and this one was voted to become Gordangalang… roll on to summer of 2024 and I was doing an August 100 squats a day challenge – with a twist, squatting with random objects from around the home. Having just modified good ole Gordangalang to have a golden arm I decided I would squat this beauty out in the garden to the tune The man With The Golden Arm, penned by Jeffery Lesser Lewis – Jeffry Lewis’s little bro.
I tagged them in, they loved it. It was nowhere close to an internet sensation, but it cemented my love and attachment to this Gordon forever.
No, I will not sell him. No matter how much you offer.
